Ken Roth
Ken Roth was born in 1936, the son of Joseph and Lydia (Lichti) Roth. He had four brothers and four sisters. Ken grew up on his parents’ farm, Lot 32, Concession 18, East Zorra Township. Ken’s first language was Deitsch. He attended the S. S. No. 7, Facey’s Public School, and his family attended the East Zorra Mennonite Church. After finishing school, Ken worked as a carpenter and later as a cabinetmaker. In 1957 he married Katherine Lebold and they were blessed with one son and two daughters. For a period of time, Ken and Katherine served with a Mennonite mission agency in Poplar Hill, Northern Ontario, where Ken taught woodworking to Native children. They lived in Tavistock and were members of the East Zorra Mennonite Church. In retirement, Ken worked as a funeral director’s assistant. He also enjoyed woodworking and woodturning. Ken died in 2022 and Katherine passed away in 2023.
