Raymond Ruby

Raymond Ruby was born in 1934, the son of Isaac and Laura (Gingerich) Ruby. He grew up on a dairy farm, Lot 35-36, Concession 15, East Zorra Township. Raymond’s first language was Deitsch. He attended S.S. No. 13 public school and the East Zorra Mennonite Church. Raymond remembered German singing and preaching in church and the transition to English. He attended the Literary Society youth group where he met his future wife, Norma Schlegel. In 1956 Norma and Raymond were married and took over the home farm. They had four daughters and one son. After retiring from the dairy farm, Raymond drove delivery trucks and long-distance expedite vans. In their 80s, Raymond and Norma moved to the Maples Home for Seniors in Tavistock. Norma died in 2018. Raymond appreciates the faith and heritage of his biological and spiritual family.
